Meadow Park Tennis Programme

Everyone is welcome. You’ll find us on court every Saturday at 10:00 am at Meadow Park, Borehamwood. The programme is mainly for children from 5 to 10 years old (‘Reds’ to ‘Greens’), though in some cases we can take 4 year olds depending on their skills.

If you’ve not been before, start by coming to a FREE 30-minute Trial Session. You’ll experience a tennis session alongside children of your own age. You’re bound to like it, so stay on after and join the Mini Tennis Session that follows.

Mini Tennis Group Sessions These park tennis sessions run for an hour on Saturdays from 10:00 to 11:30am. They are a great way for children aged 5 to 10 to get stuck into the sport. For the sessions they are put into groups according to their age. Smaller courts, nets, rackets and lower-bouncing balls are used. It’s fun, energetic and exciting – the perfect introduction. We use several courts and the exercises are tailored to suit each group. This approach, combined with the right support and encouragement, enables players to develop vital skills and techniques at an early age. You’ll be amazed by what the children achieve.

Individual Tennis Sessions An Individual Session is one-to-one. Player and coach work together in intensively. The sessions are designed to boost the rate of improvement. Your coach will discuss with you what areas to concentrate on. It is important to listen. The overall focus will be on helping you to win, by working on tactics and dealing with the mental, physical and technical factors that affect performance. This sounds pretty serious. It is, but don’t worry, these sessions are fun just like the group sessions.

Learning the Whole Game

Tennis is about more than just hitting a ball. The physical side of the game is very important and the benefits of being fit are far reaching. During the park tennis our players are given exercises to help with their general fitness, agility, speed, balance and co-ordination. They are also taught the rules of tennis and how to score. Playing matches is a natural progression and is encouraged early on.
